Tailgate Wars
Recently the talk in the truck world has been the new tailgates that GMC have released called the “MultiPro”. There is not only a truck war in the mid-size category, but also in the heavy duty platform such as the Chevy Silverado HD, Ford F2(3)50, and Ram models. With this “war”, every innovation is huge in todays market.The new 2020 GMC Sierra HD, for example, not only has a carbon fiber bed but also a six function MultiPro tailgate which comes standard in higher models and is available for lower trims. Not only will the Sierra HD have this new multi function tailgate, but so will the new 2020 Silverado.
According to GM Authority, it recently saw a camouflaged 2020 Silverado HD prototype and upon closer examination the MultiPro tailgate was clearly there. The MultiPro tailgate will also become optional for the light-duty Silverado 1500, though we don’t know when exactly that will happen. Most likely for the 2020 model year. The Silverado HD will probably receive it mid-year 2020 or 2021.
It makes sense for the Silverado 1500 to get the whatever Chevy ends up calling this tailgate before the HD variant because, for example, the new Ram 1500 has its own new trick tailgate of its own, called MultiFunction tailgate. Chevy while…
